I know everyone says, but I am on vacation do I really need to exercise??? The answer YES, but the good news is that it can be in so many different ways and forms. It doesn't have to be the traditional going to the gym or running on a track. Best part is that there is so much to see in a new city or country that you just need to get out there and explore. We like to hike and run and be out in nature on vacation. If that is not your style, walk around the city, skip the cab and save your money and walk from your hotel. We were fortunate enough that the first city we visited allowed us to run around the bay. This made getting up and motivated to run easier by having beautiful scenery and weather.
This is one of the hikes we did, it was a bit chilly/windy on top of the volcano |

Don't worry though, I am human too and indulge in sweets while on vacation too.
In addition, We try to position our hotels near the cities we are visiting so walking is an option. It's wonderful having the option to walk out your front door to multiple restaurants/shops/parks/sites etc, plus your getting exercise at the same time. Do your research before booking a hotel to find one that is near several places. Trust me you will be happy and so will your waistline. I live by tripadvisor and do my homework before we go on any trip. This allows me to see and review what others have experienced before I book anything. I like to see what is rated higher and which tour companies, restaurants, and hotels to use. It truly is my bible for traveling.
Next, try new foods when vacationing.
I tend to come home trying to replicate dishes I have had on holiday. It's amazing how other places can use less processed ingredients and make such fresh, delicious foods. On the next blog, I will have a new fun recipe straight from New Zealand. Stay tuned for that one:) Have a great start of the week, and words to live by or a sign we saw and loved in Queenstown, NZ
